About DOTGOV Supplies and Services
DOTGOV Supplies and Services
This is the trading name of Public Sector E-Procurement Ltd.
Since 2003 DOTGOV Supplies and Services have managed a database of SME's who work to service the multi-billion pound marketplace annually created by Public Sector Procurement. The previous Government has set a target of 30% of all tenders to be awarded to SME's (Small to Medium Enterprises) by 2012, and the new Government looks set to maintain or even increase this value.
Many of our clients have successfully tendered for work, from Sole Traders, to larger companies. Dotgov map all of the key words and codes in the procurement vocabulary to ensure our clients get to see every tender that is relevant to them, minimising their time taken to find work that would be appropriate.
How it works
All participating companies have their details made available to Procurement Officers via the Dotgov "Search Local SMEs" service. It allows Local Authorities and other Public Sector bodies to find the nearest company to where the work is, to fulfill their lower value contracts which fall below the threshold for Tendering. This helps them fulfil the requirement to lower their Carbon Usage to make their organisation more "eco-friendly". Every company has a page of their own on our Portal that allows them to enter details about the services they can provide, along with their Company Logo and full company contact details.
Once registered, businesses will receive email alerts
advising them about upcoming Tenders within the Public Sector on the day the work is issued for public notice. They can then log in and see full details of the work available, including
contact details and full information to enable them to register their interest in the work that is avaliable. Our new system means they are now able to apply automatically. Simply two clicks of the mouse can start the process of Tendering for work.
Why this started
Gordon Brown as Chancellor began the reformation of Public Sector Procurement encouraging Procurement Officers to use SME's whenever
possible and has continued to drive home opportunities for SME's as Prime
Minister. More recently the OGC (Office for Government Commerce) has been heavily involved in ensuring the marketplace for SME's remains beneficial to all parties involved. They have shortened the process for SME's and reduced the paperwork to a bare minimum. The UK Public Sector is one of the largest market places in the world, brimming with opportunities for businesses of all shapes and sizes. The Gershon report into Public Sector Procurement highlighted the fact that SME's represent greater value for money and are more innovative.
Despite the change of Government, there is a commitment to continue the changes in Public Sector spending and Procurement processes in support of SME's. This is being driven forward via the OGC, and all of this indicates that the future for SME's getting work in the Public Sector is becoming easier and more fruitful. It is an ensured stream of revenue for business as the money for the job has already been allocated.
